ERIE'S BLUES & JAZZ FESTIVAL 2018

Producer
Every year during the first weekend in August, Erie hosts their very own Blues & Jazz Festival. We work tirelessly year round to make sure we can bring a diverse, international lineup of artists to the Erie Community for this free event. My responsibilities for this Festival included, but were not limited to: contracting artists for the mainstage performances, renting all necessary equipment, assisting in marketing and development, making occasional appearances in local media to promote the Festival, inventorying and maintaining a clean storage facility, contracting performing artists, contracting food vendors, working with the city to create a cohesive trash pick-up plan, create easy to read signage throughout the Festival, and to put out fires anywhere issues arose.

The 20th Annual Mark Twain Prize

Talent Assistant

In October of 2017, I worked my second show at The Kennedy Center, in Washington D.C., but this time for the Mark Twain Prize, honoring David Letterman. The event featured comedians such as John Mulaney, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Amy Schumer, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Murray, and artists Eddie Vedder and Paul Shaffer. For this event, I was in charge of the producer's guest lists, coordinating with the box office for tickets at The Kennedy Center, and arranging seating charts. This is the first event I've worked that will be aired on television, as part of PBS's annual schedule.

Little Kids Rock 2017 Gala

Talent Assistant

In October of 2017, I worked on my second annual Little Kids Rock Gala, at the Playstation Theater in Times Square. The event benefits music programs for kids in schools where the arts are underfunded. This year's benefit honored Elvis Costello and Bonnie Raitt with performances from Paul Shaffer, Will Lee, KEB MO, Darlene Love, and Bettye LaVette. For this show, I was responsible for creating and distributing rehearsal schedules, run-of-show sheets, ordering catering, and hiring production assistants.

The Ruth Ellis Center's Annual VOICES GALA

Assistant Producer

In September of 2017, I helped to produce The Ruth Ellis Center's Annual fundraiser, honoring Lily Tomlin at the MotorCity Casino, in Detroit, MI. The proceeds from this fundraiser went straight to the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter and rehabilitation center for homeless LGBTQ youth in Detroit. The event featured talent such as Bruce Vilanch, Cameron Esposito, Miss Coco Peru, and Lily Tomlin. For this event, I was in charge of travel for talent, instructing talent wranglers, renting musical equipment, creating schedules for talent, calling cues on headset during the show, and prepping talent in the wings.

The David Lynch Foundation's National Night of Laughter and Song

Production Assistant

In June of 2017, I worked my first event at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The event featured stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Katie Couric, Jay Leno, Ben Folds, and Kesha. The profits from the show benefitted The David Lynch Foundation which aims to bring transcendental meditation to communities in need. I was responsible for running for food, organizing transportation, distributing W-9s and invoices, as well as tracking the production's finances.

The Ally Coalition's Annual Talent Show

Production Assistant

In December of 2016, I traveled to New York to work on The Ally Coalition's Talent Show. This was the second time that I have been a production assistant for the show, but this year I focused on immediate needs on the day of the event. I created a video to be presented on the LED screens at Webster Hall and coordinated with the lighting technician to ensure that his vision matched that of TAC. In addition to the creative work, I assisted in setting up catering and providing refreshments and guidance to talent. This year our team helped to raise over $100,000 for LGBTQ homeless youth.

SXSW 2016

DO512 Volunteer
In March of 2016, I worked shows for the event planning company Do512 for their SXSW week. I volunteered with a contact I made in New York and assisted in the set up and tear down of events, managing ticket lists and VIP access, in addition to setting up catering services.

Ode To You

Senior Independent Study  (I.S.)

I have been working on my Senior I.S. since August of 2016, although in some ways it was a continuation of my Junior I.S., which was completed in May of 2016. My Junior I.S. focused on the ways that the Twenty One Pilots fandom could be understood as a New Religious Movement, which lead me to study how the fandom is created and maintained on social media. Throughout this project I have used numerous research tools to collect my own data, while applying Communication Studies theories to my findings in order to analyze correctly.
